Simple Tips to Help You Master SEO

By | News | No Comments

Statistics show that websites on the first page of Google receive almost 95% of clicks, so it’s essential that your business appears at the top of their search results. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is highly technical and there are many influencing factors so it’s difficult to know exactly what you need to do to stay ahead of your competitors. If you are just starting out your career in digital marketing or if you are wanting to secure a big promotion, mastering SEO is a must. IDM is the leading digital marketing institute in USA, the global certification standard in digital marketing education, we have certified over 10,000 people across four continents. So, what exactly is SEO and what’s the best way to become an expert in it?

What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimisation simply means the process of improving your website to increase its visibility for relevant searches. The better visibility your pages have in search results, the more likely you are to attract prospective and existing customers to your business.

How Does SEO Work?

When a consumer searches for a product or service, Google uses over 200 signals to score their search results to provide the best answer. Therefore, SEO involves making sure a website is accessible, technically sound, uses key words that people regularly search for, and provides an excellent user experience, with high quality and relevant content that helps answers the user’s query.

How Can I Improve SEO?

There are hundreds of things that can be done to help improve your ranking, some more technical than others. While many things take time to learn, there are a few basic things you can do which will give you better results:

Use the Right Keywords in the Right Places – While Google’s algorithms have evolved significantly, they still rely on keywords to ensure people can find you. You need to understand they keywords your target market commonly searches for and ensure they’re included in your posts. Including key words in your content, including your headlines and meta descriptions, helps Google understand what your page is about.

Ensure Content is Fresh and Relevant –To drive more traffic to your website and increase its popularity, you need to give visitors a reason to keep coming back. Your content needs to be high quality, recent, and relevant. If your information is outdated, irrelevant or hard to read consumers will bounce off the page and find another page they like better, consequently your website’s ranking will fall.

Optimize Your Images – Pictures and other images are great for your website, however, you need to make sure they are optimized properly if you want these images to improve your SEO ranking. This includes factors such as the file format and size. Huge images can slow your page loading time, which can really hurt your ranking. You can also use your images to sneak in keywords by naming them accordingly.

Want to Learn More About SEO?

Every day millions of people around the world turn to search engines to help them find what they are looking for, so understanding SEO needs to be a high priority for every digital marketing professional. There’s many things that can be done to improve your website ranking and keep your company at the top. While many are simple, many are quite complex – the best way to ensure you are an SEO expert is by taking a digital marketing course taught by industry leaders. Tips to Help You Become an SEO Expert

By | News | No Comments

SEO is the practice of creating content designed to increase the quantity and quality of traffic to a website via organic search results and it plays a vital role in helping companies build their businesses and attract new customers. Whether you are already working in digital marketing or if you are looking to switch careers, it’s a wise move to invest the time to become an expert in SEO. At IDM USA, we offer a diploma in search engine marketing course online to help you learn all the skills you need to kick-start or develop your career. If you want to smash SEO, here’s a few tips to help you get started.

Learn How Search Engines Work

It may seem simple, you type a word or phrase into a search engine and results instantly pop up for you to click on. There’s a whole lot more to the way search engines work and to master SEO you need to learn a bit about them. Google’s index contains trillions of web pages and when you type a query into the search bar, it pulls all matching pages. As there are often millions of relevant results, Google’s algorithm then ranks them based on hundreds of factors. Nobody knows what all of these factors are or how they’re weighted, but we do know some and these are the ones you need to learn about. Keep in mind, SEO only influences organic results, it doesn’t affect paid ads.

Master The Four Main Aspects of SEO

SEO can be thought of as a giant puzzle with many pieces. To be an SEO expert, you need to understand how the pieces fit together.

The four main pieces are:

  • Keyword research – this involves finding relevant words and phrases that people are typing into search engines like Google. You should target keywords that are likely to send organic traffic your way should you rank for them, are likely to attract potential customers and aren’t too competitive.
  • On-page SEO – this is the practice of optimizing web pages to help improve rankings and attract more organic traffic from search engines. Examples of this include: optimizing for search intent, writing enticing meta titles and descriptions and internally linking to pages that you want to rank.
  • Link building – this is the process of acquiring new backlinks from third-party websites. They help improve rankings and boost organic traffic, and can also send referral traffic to your site.
  • Technical SEO – this involves optimizing your website so that search engines can crawl and index your content efficiently, and visitors have a positive user experience. Improving page speed and removing broken links (both internal and external) are examples of this.

Take A Course and Get Certified

5 Great Digital Marketing Quotes to Inspire and Motivate

By | News | No Comments

In the world of digital marketing, inspiration is incredibly powerful. It can influence, motivate or help to create something that surpasses ordinary expectations. At IDM, we help people to up-skill, retrain and kick-start their digital marketing career. If you are looking for the best digital marketing course in California, we have a range of accredited courses taught by industry experts. We understand that even the best digital marketers need a little inspiration every now and then. Here are some astute words of wisdom from some of the biggest industry leaders that might help to motivate and inspire your digital marketing strategies into the future.

“The best marketing doesn’t feel like marketing.”

Tom Fishburne, Founder of Marketoonist.

In today’s digital marketing landscape, modern consumers are incredibly savvy. They know that marketing is everywhere, influencing all aspects of daily life from activities, purchases and choices. While much of it is obvious, the best marketing is invisible, meaning that the average person probably doesn’t even realize it when they see it. Branding and marketing that consumers can identify is essential for businesses to succeed, however it is also important to find ways where marketing is a natural conversation and not always an intrusion.

“Google only loves you when everyone else loves you first.”

Wendy Piersall, Author, Blogger and Artist

Google loves content and SEO, and as such, ranks your website content based on the actions of others. A business cannot expect to be at the top of search rankings with a nice website and a few keywords. The more consumers read, share and engage with your content will make sure Google rewards you with a higher ranking, ultimately placing your business above your competitors.

“Stop selling. Start helping.”

Zig Ziglar, Author and Motivational Speaker

When we focus on selling, we’re thinking about ourselves. We need to take a step back from our own needs, and focus on meeting the needs of our customers. Consumers are real people with real feelings, and when we focus on helping them, we blow the competition out of the water. A focus on helping our customers develops trust and builds deeper relationships and in turn, they’ll help you without you even trying.  They will want to buy from you because you listen and care about their needs, and you are right there when they are ready to buy.

“Content Marketing is a commitment, not a campaign.”

Jon Buscall

Content marketing can easily provide a target audience information about products or services. Therefore, content marketing is an on-going process of providing relevant and valuable content that will help improve the lives of target customers. It is not a one-time campaign that will be abandoned, it’s an ongoing commitment. Products can be sold and bought, but when you start providing information, that’s when your customers start to remember you.

“A brand is no longer what we tell the consumer it is – it is what consumers tell each other it is.”

Scott Cook

If a business is to succeed in the modern world of digital media, this is a lesson that must be absorbed by every marketer. Nowhere is the power of consumer opinion or word-of-mouth marketing more evident than social media. Social media gives customers a huge platform to share their experiences, both positive and negative, with brands they have used in the past, and other consumers listen to these opinions. Studies have shown that word-of-mouth marketing can generate on average twice the number of sales than paid advertising.

5 Highly Important Areas of Digital Marketing

By | News | No Comments

With many businesses finding traditional marketing methods difficult to track or less effective than they once were, they’re now turning to online digital marketing for the growth they need to survive and thrive. Digital Marketing itself is a broad term which covers any form of marketing products or services that involve electronic devices. IDM is the leading provider of digital marketing training courses and we have options to cover all aspects of online marketing including a diploma in social media marketing. If you are interested in a career in DM, you need to have an understanding of many different areas, including the five outlined below.

Content

Google has placed a big emphasis on original and valuable content, rewarding websites with large amounts of traffic and higher search rankings if they contain useful and relevant content. Due to this, there is huge increase in the importance of having relevant blogs, podcasts, articles or a news feed within most websites. Once a visitor has been drawn in with educational and informative content, it’s important you have a method in place for converting these visitors into buyers. Content marketing aims at building relationships with potential customers, with the intention of building rapport and generating leads. Then, when a potential customer is ready to engage or purchase, they will approach you over your competitors because of the trust you have built through the content you’ve given them.

Social Media

Social Media Marketing is the use of social media platforms and websites to promote a product or service. These days, you will struggle to find a business which doesn’t have a social media presence. While most companies have a presence, many of them have accounts with no real strategy for use.

Social media is a very valuable tool that costs nothing to use. It allows you to build an audience of potential customers, and send that audience back to your website where you can convert them to purchase. For most companies, their websites are the place for converting their potential clients into actual clients so they need a plan to push traffic from their social media platforms back to landing pages. There are many useful social media platforms and not all are relevant to every business. To be successful with social media marketing you have to fully understand the one social network you want to use for your marketing.

Pay Per Click (PPC)

PPC advertising is a method used by marketers to gain site visits through payment instead of organic traffic. A great way to be visible fast, PPC advertising describes marketing methods where the marketer pays for each click on a link to a website. Google AdWords is one of the most common methods for PPC advertising and can be very effective if done well. Google AdWords work on a bidding basis with the more in demand search phrases sometimes costing a considerable amount of money. Apart from search engines, almost all social networks offer the opportunity for Pay Per Click advertising. These ads then appear in the feed of the targeted social media users.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

SEO is the process of optimizing content or websites so that they organically show up in search results in search engines like Google. Google decides which websites to show for a search term based on keywords mentioned on the website and links that refer to this website. SEO has a lot to do with using the right keywords or key phrases in the copy of a website. You need to be careful, however, you cannot simply fill up your website with key words and hope for the best. SEO is a broad discipline but learning the basics like correct use of key long tail key words and meta descriptions can make a big difference.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is one of the strongest marketing channels. A non-intrusive way to reach out to people, an email is a great way to build and nurture a relationships and build trust, enabling you to eventually convert a percentage of your audience into customers. Email marketing is much more than buying an email list and bombarding them with promotional messages, the best results will always be achieved with a list of subscribers you have earned and nurtured. Your email list can easily turn into your best digital marketing asset and a great email campaign can really drive sales.

To measure the success of marketing campaigns, it is essential to understand analytics. This data shows how well or how poorly a campaign is performing (or performed) and helps you to strategize a way to make things better in future. When it comes to a digital marketing campaign, everything is measurable. You can see how many people viewed each campaign, how many people clicked on ads, how many conversions they generated and a whole heap of other useful metrics that cover every aspect of a campaign. Analysing campaign results enables you to measure the effectiveness of a campaign and make informed decisions based on real data.

We are highly regarded as the best institute for digital marketing courses with affordable and flexible learning options for everyone. If you are planning to take up a digital marketing course, here are a few tips to help you find the right course and institute for your needs.

Understand Your Requirements and Your Options

If you are looking at your options, you must be really interested in learning more about digital marketing. Ask yourself the below questions before proceeding:

  • Why do you need to study a digital marketing course?
  • What is your objective for pursuing this course?
  • What are your expectations out of the course?
  • Where do you want to use your digital marketing skills?
  • Do you want to become a professional in digital marketing or use the skills in starting up a new firm or use them for better digital understanding of your existing business or for something else?
  • What are the various learning options available?
  • How much time can you dedicate to learning?
  • What are your preferred areas in digital marketing?

It’s important to note that even if you are already social media savvy and have some knowledge about digital marketing platforms and tools, digital marketing is marketing, so you also need to learn basic marketing skills. Make sure that the emphasis of course you choose is on making you an effective and wholesome marketer by providing you complete knowledge of digital tools and practices in an effective way.

Ask for Recommendations

Ask friends and family if they have any recommendations for digital marketing related courses they have taken. Ask them what they liked, what they didn’t like, what they got out if it and if they thought it was beneficial. You can also ask specific questions about the curriculum to see if it would be suited to your requirements. If you don’t know anyone personally who has studied a similar course, then you may need to turn to Facebook groups for entrepreneurs, bloggers, and affiliate marketers to get their recommendations. If you happen to find one that you’re interested in taking, then thoroughly read through reviews and testimonials.

Do Thorough Background Research

As we have mentioned, there are many institutes are offering the same or similar sounding digital marketing training courses but you need to find the course and the institute that are actually a good fit for your requirements. Find out how reputable the institute is, find out how long they have been in business, how many people they have trained and the outcome for their alumni. Making the right choice when deciding on a digital marketing institute will help your career path not only with the skills and experience gained during the course but also in later in your career as a digital marketer – being alumni of the right institute will always help you in setting benchmarks in your working life and place you as a well-trained professional. Once you are done with this basic research, find out:

  • What certifications are offered as an outcome of the course?
  • How relevant they are to you and how much weightage they would add to your resume?
  • How well are they recognised by the industry?
  • What benefits you will get after completion of course in terms of certifications, job assistance, placement, practical training and internships?

You should also find out how well planned the fees structure is, the payment options provided, and whether there is financial assistance available.

Digital communication has become the most preferred form of communication in everyone’s life – from individuals to small businesses and large companies across almost every industry, everywhere. It is almost essential to learn or at least know a few things about digital marketing. What differentiates a DMI diploma from other digital marketing courses

Not that long ago, digital marketing was seen as an experimental field, or a side activity to traditional marketing tasks. Now, its place at the centre of every marketing campaign is recognised beyond dispute. While its importance is well understood, the practice of digital marketing is still constantly evolving, so to stay ahead marketers often find that they benefit from professional training.

There is a wide range of courses available to those keen to promote their skills in digital marketing, from short certificates right up to degrees. Which course to take will depend on the marketer’s experience, what they want to achieve and the resources they have to dedicate to their studies. For busy professionals, a diploma can strike the right balance, as this blog will show.

Gain a qualification

If you are keen to improve your skills without committing to a bachelor’s degree, a certificate or diploma can be relatively quick and affordable options. Certificate programmes are generally the shortest, and are aimed at developing a particular skill instead of providing a broad overview of the industry. They are therefore a good choice for those who already have substantial work experience and are keen to focus on a highly specific area.

By contrast, diploma programmes take longer and go into more depth. While giving you a specialisation, your study is also framed by a wider industry context – but without needing to sign up for a whole bachelor’s degree. Diploma courses are particularly useful for those looking to change career, or progress quickly from an early stage.

Industry validated syllabus

The Syllabus Advisory Council, with member representatives from leading digital brands including Facebook, Twitter and Google, validates the DMI Diploma. The council’s aim is to develop and maintain internationally recognised standards of education in digital marketing. Colin Gibson, who completed his professional diploma in 2013, has this to say of the course:

“I would recommend the Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing to anyone looking to get his or her feet in the world of digital. The knowledge you learn along the course can help you increase conversions, up engagement on social, and understand Google. From a personal point of view this course has added an extra element to my CV, and it’s been very noticeable my applications since completing this course have been much more successful!”

Regularly updated curriculum

In a field developing as rapidly as digital marketing, staying up to date is crucial. Before choosing a course in digital marketing, it is absolutely necessary that you make sure that it reviews its curriculum frequently.

The DMI Diploma course is designed exclusively by digital marketing professionals to focus on current trends and best practices in digital marketing. On the course, you will also learn to develop your own innovative strategies, and leverage them to gain competitive advantage in your business and career. By establishing a sound base in the knowledge, skills and competencies required in digital marketing, marketers are empowered to drive future developments in the industry themselves.

Practical information

Since the DMI Diploma is updated regularly by digital marketing professionals, the skills and knowledge it teaches are rooted in the practical concerns of contemporary professional practice. Head of Text Republic Louis Grenier says this of his diploma course:

“I found the course excellent for two main reasons. The first one is that every course is held by a professional who knows exactly what he/she is talking about. They almost all own their own business and are specialised in a specific digital marketing channel. The second reason is the practicality of the course. The content is more “how-to” than a boring lecture.”

Available online

Offering the greatest degree of flexibility for busy professionals, the diploma can be studied online. Using this mode, all the course materials can be accessed over the internet, including video lectures, downloadable slides, supporting case studies and learning resources. Online study can be an affordable and time saving option, as marketing manager Alejandro Montenegro discovered:

“When I decided to join the course, I didn’t know what to expect. It was my first online course and I wasn’t sure if I was going to be successful on a course of this calibre from a distance. However, soon after I started, I felt on-board and on my way to learning all there is to know about digital marketing. Overall, the online course is pretty well organised and the slides and videos from the classes are easily accessible at all times through the class network making it very flexible to study whilst working.”

Internationally recognised qualification

DMI offers its courses in over 50 countries around the world. The Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing is approved and credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority at Level 8 on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF), and is comparable to Level 5 on the European Qualifications Framework. Not only does this mean that you can be assured of the quality of education you will receive: through your learning, you will also gain a qualification that will open doors wherever you go.

Conclusion

With the explosion in digital marketing has come an almost equal proliferation of digital marketing courses. With strong industry links, a constantly updated curriculum, practical approach and flexible study options, the DMI Diploma occupies a class of its own.

Digital Marketing Institute to partner with IBAT College

Partnership will deliver classroom-based digital marketing courses

Marketting Institute: “Our domestic and international growth has surpassed all expectations”

IBAT College Dublin has become the first Irish partner of the Digital Marketing Institute.

DMI says the partnership will allow it to further expand its international certification reach which has recorded 135 per cent revenue growth in the last year.

“Our domestic and international growth has surpassed all expectations,” said Anthony Quigley, DMI co-founder and director.

“To best service the Irish market we are replicating what we do in the other 70 countries in which we operate, by appointing a licence partner to deliver local classroom training and focusing our resources on the quality of our product and certification.”

IBAT will deliver classroom-based digital marketing courses from the DMI from September.
